They spelled Itasca wrong? It is voice to text done by the phone/voicemail software. I have it on my phone and it is surprising how accurate it is. I feel it is usually faster or more convenient than calling the voicemail as well.

I feel it is usually faster or more convenient than calling the voicemail as well. If the person speaks clear. There are people that sound like they have shit in their mouth and VM narration isn't even close sometimes.

I was tooling around on Itasca's website today. Why, I have no idea, because I am not planting any trees this spring. But, fun fact, couple things I saw changed over there. Now the minimum order is $250, and on the plus side, they are now listing serviceberry as a plug they'll be growing. It's not even in the availability list yet, so it may be next fall or later before we see them. I wouldn't mind getting a shit pot of them some day.

I was looking at their website the other day and saw this on the About Us, sounds like I should have been growing more trees this past year again:

Probably not all bad. Quality, but less on quantity.

Anyone in the market for ROD plugs, Itasca may have some left. I called today and was told they had 700, but weren't sure the count was accurate. I took 300 (if they're there), so there may be some left. Spring ROD plugs have been impossible to get from these guys for about 4 years.
If I get mine, I think I'm going to plant small tight thickets and fence them in.

I looked at the inventory, they are sold out of just about everything I wanted to order. Geez, I am going to have to order in August/Sept from now on. Crazy

Check that I guess they have White Spruce and Norway Spruce. I was looking at Black Hills Spruce and Cedar--both out for larger size. They also have Bur Oak, instead of Red?
Any big deal to substitute White Spruce... you guys had luck with them in MN? This would be for a property screen, 500 foot screen.

The forester I once spoke with about my place was very bullish on white spruce over others. I didn’t ask why. It she kept saying “White spruce would be the best.”
Isn’t it white spruce that the deer like to eat? If so, maybe she was wrong about it for making bedding and thermal cover.

I think white spruce is the only upland spruce native to MN. Deer eat white pine. If you have 1 deer per 4 square miles, it will find any wild white pine seedlings and browse them.

My forester favors white spruce over Black Hills spruce since white is a native. He seemed to think they might be less susceptible to that disease that hits some spruce with age. I always wonder what is natural thinning and what is disease.
Blue spruce are very susceptible.
Most of my spruce are white. Deer don’t eat them on the sandbox.

I've got white Spruce on my place and my place is mostly sandy gravel. Other than the bad drought years they have done quite well.
Unless you have pure sand I would not hesitate planting white Spruce.
