Only thing about hunting the day loaf is it's usually lights out in your face shooting. You are in and out usually fairly quickly and it allows the later bids to come in. Always just have to be smart about the hunt! We hunt a loaf that we have permission on 5-6 times a year, because we are smart about it and don't burn them out of there! The birds you don't kill usually just end up going back to their roosting spot and sticking around the area.

The Sky Carp Spend 18-20 hours a day on water, 4-6 in the field feeding. Its like trying to Deer hunt a bedding area for a big buck, you usually get one chance, then it fucks it up for everyone. Got give them a sanctuary, but thats just my take on the matter.

Is it spring or winter wheat? Hard Red Spring I just planted some of this into my beans and in some new clover trails. I wonder how it will hold up in the cold novemeber weather??......and will it green up again in Spring? I wanted to plant some rye....but none was available to me when I could plant. So I got talked into hard spring wheat. Not sure what happens with wheat?

It will stay green for a while but will die off after repeated below 32 degree days. Very little will regrow in the spring

We usually never hunt the water at our place, but I wanted to make sure my son got some shooting in because we weren't going to get them to come into hay fields. My brother starts chopping corn this week so next week we should have the X in the area. Nothing beats that.

I occasionally duck hunt a swamp on my deer lease. If geese stop by to loaf, we shoot em.
We also hunt a golf course near my house. We get away with several hunts and the geese just come back. Sometimes they roost there for the night, other times they don't.
Geese on a true roost pond that's not a golf course get left alone.

Early Goose opener here tomorrow. I am going out with the kids that work for me. Anyone else going out? Please let me know how wet the low spots are. I need to get into my kids field and spread some rye in Quamba. He is on an other permaculture internship on a kick ass strip of river bottom in Nebraska where he will be recurve slinging while I plant his shit. Then he may be going to Africa to educate natives for a stint.

Early teal starts in sconnie this weekend. Won’t be out tomorrow because we’ll be at the farm. Maybe Sunday, but for sure next week some time. Forecast looks warm and wet so I’m not too exited. Sucks

Wow. Sad to report. I WAS a major waterfowl guy for most of my life. I dont give 1 shit or even 2 shits for hunting ducks and geese in MN any more. I had not even thought of the early goose. Heading up in the morning and bass fishing all weekend.
Man I miss good MN waterfowl hunts..... not just early season geese. Used to smoke ducks from opener till deer season in OTC. We are lucky to shoot enough birds in an entire season up there now, as compared to one weekend 25 years ago...... MN has gone to shit for pretty much all hunting.... ducks, geese, deer, grouse, pheasants, and whatever else we HAD.... LOL
ND or bust for waterfowl now.

A little slow this morning. Does not seem to be a lot of geese around. But we have managed to put 15 on the ground.

15 is a good day any day in my book. How do you cook goose? Wrap the breasts in bacon, slow cook for over a hour. Throw the breast away and eat the bacon.
