I took the lab out for a quick hunt today. No birds, but good exercise! Just like my partridge hunting on Wednesday. We did jump 8 or 9 birds.

Did she come back from training a focused machine? Doing awesome. We picked her up a month ago. The trainer put out chukars and had us walk with him. She is doing the grid search great, and the big kicker is.... the dog points..... at 8 months old. He said he did nothing with that, he just took her out, and did the field training and she started pointing naturally. Focused machine?? Well, she is still a puppy. Lets say that. But with that said, the little girl is wonderful. She is not wild by any means. Obeys very good(we have polishing to do). I want to get her on some birds but things have been quite busy in recent weekends. And not letting up with gun season coming.

My female chocolate lab pointed naturally too if the bird was locked in place. It was cool. I still have a vivid memory of sodak trip where she was nose tip to beak tip with a rooster buried under some corn stubble. Awesome times. Enjoy it!

Best hunting dog I had. 3/4 chocolate lab and a bit of shorthair.

Luckily this storm is pretty mild, not likely to lose any birds ! I don’t think we have many birds left to lose after last winter. I can hear one or maybe two roosters at most and do not see them flying to the foodplot.

Been raining pretty good here for a couple of hours now. Knocking the snowpack down pretty good but we'll see what the temp does. Could be a killer. I saw three wood cock on Saturday! I bet they are wishing they didn't move this far north;)
