Ark. Black planted last yr. Which leader would you keep? I'm thinking to cut the one on the left and keep the one on the right (the right one looks like an extension of the original leader while the left looks like an offshoot of the rt). I think you are asking about the 2 main looking branches not the one on the right that has another branch going straight up in the air (speaking of which that isn't good either, cut that thing off!), competition heading towards the sun on those branches isn't good from what I've seen because it will eventually cause rubbing issues. I love the learning process of all this fruit tree stuff, such great resources with you fine folks. Ya know looking at this a little closer i think the picture is deceiving and its actually 1 pure leader with a split at the top and the other 2 branches below are not actually the same branch. Sorry gents, been gone a bit and my eyes have to be retrained for these sorts of eye candy shots. As previously said cut the left 1 as it looks like its ready to have fruit quicker and being that short you want upward growth not fruit.........yet.

The pic is deceiving like you said. How much you guys want to bet that within a month from now I post a bunch more "how do I do this" pics?

Cat thats the fun of it, the whole learning and doing part of this tree stuff is what i love. Best thing is to not get frustrated or go to quickly cuz it takes a year to regrow something you screw up.
