I disagree with the article.
Republican politicians do not loathe deficit spending. They are just as corrupt in managing government money as the left.
There are only a few who truly want to be fiscally responsible

It is sickening, let's hope they listen to Rand Paul and do some budget amendments.

Lets slow down a bit here.......does anyone think that the hole that Caliph Barak left us with in the military spending and hand-outs to his illegal friends is going to go away for free and on it's own? It was a 2 year budget deal, let it play out to get some MUCH needed funds into the stream. Then we can revisit in year 3 to see if this "spending trend" continues beyond that point, or if they get their heads out of their asses and once they start to "right the ship", then we can move on to being more fiscally responsible. That is my hope, as I am under no illusion whatsoever that we will not have to spend some real money to get back to where we need to be.
By the way...........the New York Times is a liberal rag..................

NYT was just the first article I grabbed. I don't think the R have any real interest in fixing the deficit, if they did they would have gave Rand the vote he wanted. It is easy point to complain about when the D's are in power but I don't think they have the guts to do the real fixes. It is just easier to kick the ball the down the road and start complaining again when the D's swing back into power.

Much need welfare reform is supposedly on the way and needed, oil lease income is up. Let's hope the debt stays down/manageable. We cannot allow it to go up like under Obama.

All those things considered, the last President with a truly balanced budget AND zero national debt was Andrew Jackson and I don't see us ever getting back to that point, I don't care who's in charge, be it Democrat, Republican, or the ruler of the Galactic Empire..........

We don't need zero debt, but we cant keep on raising it forever..if we do Then it is just a matter of time before the country fails.

I can neither confirm nor deny that fact..............but I think it may not be just "the country" that fails, it may just be a worldwide financial collapse that requires a global reset. Most countries around the world are in not much better shape financially than the US at this point, they just have "creative" ways of covering up how bad they are actually doing from a financial standpoint, and are much less open about their true situations.

The discretionary budget will fix itself in time. When the entitlements devour the entire budget, there won't be credit to borrow for the shit that actually runs and defends the country.

^ The thing is.....we've been in a global financial war for many years......and losing. It may take a war with bombs to give the world economy a re-set. Just MAYBE the Donald's better trade deals will give us a chance to right the ship.

The liberal agenda to force kids to college have those kids holding 1.5 trillion worth of student loan debt at almost credit card rates right now. It’s what the dems want, and the right can’t fix!

If I remember correctly, the age of 60+ credit card debt has increased dramatically. Could be needed money to survive!!!
