^. I went after the Mullen with my machette on the smaller plants and collected the seed heads on some of the bigger stuff. Been raining every time I want to spray it......but may try later this week. I got a pretty substantial population of this crap. I guess I let it go too long.

Nope......I put my canoe paddle away. I got 4.5" about ten days ago......and got 3.5" over last weekend. Also got 1/2" this morning. I did plant about 1.5 acres of brassica on Friday.......it was hotter than hades......but I got it done before the rains came. My brassica is just emerging when I looked on Tuesday. Great timing.

I have three different plots with beans in em. All are now getting hammered by the Deer. Some areas curve and criss-cross the long finger plots. Some of the ground is better than the other. But I got pretty fair beans on all three areas. I do need to spray the grasses.

Can you see a difference in the bean varieties? At this point.......the Eagles seem a little behind the "normal" Ag Beans I got at Mimbachs. Actually I have a big variety of "left - over" RR beans. Some were from MO......A few were from MDHA.....A few were Mimabach, a few from Bjergens.... and I had a bag of Eagle beans. It seems all the beans are doing as well as the Eagles at this point. I did put the Eagles on some pretty good dirt.

Mullein takes two growing seasons to produce a seed stalk. If you get them the first year, round-up seems to do a good job as they are smaller. Once they bloom, the seed stays viable for up to 35 years. Anywhere I disturb the soil at my place, they pop up. I've got an outbreak of Mullen again this spring. Lots of small plants in the rosette stage. These are in my established clover and rye plots so I dont want to nuke the plots. I'm thinking I am going to spot spray the numerous plants tomorow.....and try to save the plots (100's) Been reading tonight about best herbicide....and may buy something with Triclopyr. (Garlon, Crossbow, Access). ......or just hit it with roundup and a surfactant. Any suggestions??
