Yeah probably. I don't know if there was anything else they felt they wanted to accomplish or not... Sounded like pushing the season back was their next hope but weren't having any luck with it

That would be very beneficial, especially in the 200 and 300 Zones, but I can tell you right now, there are WAYYYYYYY to many guys in that area that will cry like little girls and bitch like a teen beauty queen if you take their shotguns away during the peak rut.

When talking to Lou he said he doesn't think pushing back the season would have much impact on age structure. I didn't press him for an explanation but I wish I had

When talking to Lou he said he doesn't think pushing back the season would have much impact on age structure. I didn't press him for an explanation but I wish I had DNR Statement: (Insert what your going to do regardless of feedback) because (insert whatever bullshit comes to mind) + (ignore follow up questions) = hunter outreach

When talking to Lou he said he doesn't think pushing back the season would have much impact on age structure. I didn't press him for an explanation but I wish I had He told me that in Alexandria. I said to him, you are wrong, how else would you explain Iowa having such great big buck hunting... Lou said something like, we'd kill the same number of bucks if we moved the season back two weeks.

A few years ago I had an email exchange with Lou, and copied his boss at the time. I sent info I had gathered and questioned changes or proposed changes he had at that time. I sent the email from my work email address. Lou replied to me and kinda of scolded me for challenging his work as he is highly trained in statistical data and research and some BS like that. He also said, "I see you work for a High Tech company. I am sure that your company gathers information and makes decisions at a high level on how to improve and grow".
That was an EASY rebuttal for me. I replied and told him that I surely worked for a high tech company, and we did make necessary changes to the business to continue to prosper. The one thing we do different than the DNR is that we SURVEY OUR CUSTOMERS TO SEE WHERE WE NEED TO IMPROVE!!!! You do NOT survey your customers so you have no idea what to do to improve the product for your customers.
He never replied after that. Conversation was DONE. What an arrogant prick.

Lou replied to me and kinda of scolded me for challenging his work as he is highly trained in statistical data and research and some BS like that. That must be part of the DNR playbook. When I talked to Grund on the phone a few years ago he repeatedly told me how skilled he was in gathering and compiling research and statistics. He also told me that he had and would continue to defend his model to his superiors and politicians. I'm guessing somebody finally punched some big holes in his model.

Highly skilled in data, yet not one thing has changed in most of MN since the 1970's except adding longer seasons and allowing more deer to be shot.

As a sidebar zone 648 will likely step across the 1% CWD threshold this year. What can they do to kill more deer?
