Do you own land in Georgia or lease or hunt public? What kind of buck do you hold out for? I live on just under 100 acres. I don't lease right now. If I could find a proper club, Id join in a heartbeat. Most clubs around here are overcrowded, overpriced, overhunted, and understocked and lack proper management if you know what I mean. Im pretty picky when it comes to what Ill shoot. Or patient, depends on how you look at it. I probably have higher expectations than what I should for my area, and this amount of land. We do produce some very nice deer in this county for it to be a ridge and valley region. 130" deer is considered nice here, but they get a lot bigger. With that said 3.5 year is also a mature deer here cause folks just cant let them walk. I mean we get 12 tags, 10 antlerless, 2 bucks, must be 4 on at least one side. Youd think folks were starving at some of the things that get shot around here lol. But hey, to each their own, right? To answer your question, first I look at the rack. I know Im backwards by Grant Woods standards, but lets be honest, that's what were after. And I don't have the luxury of growing deer like him, though I do try. If he is at least 3.5 and has a nice rack, I wont have a problem taking him. If hes under 3, Ill give him a pass regardless of his rack. If hes 4 and above and expresses poor genetics, Ill take because by that time he should be showing some promise. And of course any mature deer over 130. Ill pass on cull deer early season, but if they are still around near start of the rut, Ill probably clear him out. I want 4 year olds with 160" racks, but its hard here Now Ive only been on this land 5 years and have had to run off a lot of trespassers, added food plots, feeders, water, cover and bedding opportunity. Passed on a lot of deer those years and it has made a difference

What do you consider a cold from down there in Georgia? It might get as low as 68 hahahahahaba Nah, it gets very cold here in the winter. But I wont have to worry about it until late November. By Mid December the cold is here to stay. We just don't get much snow. Annually we might get about 6" combined. If we get an inch of snow, schools close.
