Something killed off a lot of the tamarack trees in my swamp, but it only seemed to kill the large trees.

Something killed off a lot of the tamarack trees in my swamp, but it only seemed to kill the large trees. Those beetles only go after trees that are 4" diameter and larger. It may save the Tammy's for the future. (it's in that article I posted)

Yup, I've seen reports about the beetles going back 20 years or so. I had hoped to avoid them, but something is certainly killing the bigger tamaracks in one end of my swamp

I think I’ll still plant maybe 25 at a time. Mixed in with Spruce and a few pine.

I walked my property in Otter Tail County last week and I was shocked at the growth of Tamarack. Easily exceeding Spruce and Pine. Definitely on the list to add in areas with moist soils and even on the upland they are doing well.

Everywhere I've checked says "sold out"

Yes they love to rub them no doubt. I think I will order 25 more. I like to plant them in small blocks

I'm going to be putting in an order with Itasca. I'm open to splitting an order to hit a volume price break point depending on the qty others had in mind. I'm going to keep dropping them in at my place in the low ground. They seemed to be doing really well.
