I’d dip the ends of each stick in paraffin wax do they don’t dry out to extend their life. I used a paraffin/ beeswax blend last year. The scion I got from guys that did this last year was awesome. I need to through the black stuff away and go this route. I sealed all mine with the black stuff and it worked I guess.

If anybody will be in need of some extra rootstock, let me know. I ordered 100 B.118 from Copenhaven and could part with some if anybody goes sol on ordering some.
Lee, what did you like about Forest King?

Geneva: Comments:: Flowers: ornamental crab apple; flowers single; 30 mm diameter; pink buds followed by white flowers; generally less floriferous than other flowering crabs. Fruit: size very large for a crab apple, 70 mm; flesh red; eating quality fair; excellent for jelly. Tree: hardy; productive; annual cropping; resistant to apple scab; leaves green with reddish bronze tinge; fruits drop from tree as they ripen. Large-fruited, ornamental crab apple. Red juice, cider

Lee, what did you like about Forest King? Dang it, small chunk, you are a pusher for this addiction. I all ready have St, Lawrence and Martha crab scion on order with Stu from Fedco. Stu has some Golden Russet to share. If it works out, there is a guy in Idaho that found a wild, very red fleshed dolgo seedling. There is a rootstock crab in Little Falls that Stu says is still slowly dropping apples. Years back, I gave a buddy one of my dolgo seedlings. Monday night he told me it is still holding apples. He has five or six apple trees and time after time the deer go straight to that dolgo seedling first. 24 yards from his stand. Short answer, I have more scion than topworks.

When is time to gather scion?
I was wondering if a few wanted to meet at my house if there are some scion you want. Ben, Lee, and Korey were looking for some varieties, but might have found them.
Once I start pruning, some will be on the ground, unless I leave a few branches.

I didn't see the article about the antioxidents, are grafting bands jus big rubber bands? any time after middle part of January I guess you could gather scion, it just depends on how long you want to store it.

Grafting bands are made to disintegrate on their own, but I usually sliced mine.. unless I forgot. What are you using?

I will probably use toilet bowl wax again to seal and then we use tourniquets at work that get thrown away I think they would be perfect as a grafting band, I would just have to come back and slice them
