won't this cold weather kill the scions while they are in transit? I have wondered about transport doing that to scion. GRIN have arrived in good shape but some shipped from internet friends take up to 2 weeks to arrive. Two weeks in a warm post office, then below zero in a mail box. Hmmm We just do our best and keep at it. My snooty falooty salad dressings came in frozen solid the other day off the UPS truck. Dr. Barry ordered some too the other day and some of his actually burst and he had shit all over his box.

I wonder about this all the time too. But then always come to the conclusion that they would freeze on the tree too. As long as there isn't a huge swing in temps for a long period, I think we are good! Hoping to hear of mine shipping soon too!

Looks like my scion are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. At least they shouldn't have been in transit in the -30 weather. I have high hopes for these scion, so hopefully they are still viable when they arrive.

Ahhhh man, now I'm getting worried. Did all of you get an email from them confirming your order? Now I'm second guessing that I actually ordered....

I just double checked. I got an email on December 13th saying that they received my order. I did put a mention in there and said to ship as close to April as possible, so maybe they are holding mine off for now?

^Glad you got them.
Now, this is the earliest I have ever got scion, how do we keep these alive for the next 3 months?
Are most of you going to keep them in your fridge or maybe in a in heated shed for a short time?

Are most of you going to keep them in your fridge or maybe in a in heated shed for a short time? I’d dip both ends of each scion in a paraffin/beeswax mixture. Take a can and melt the wax in a pot of water. Dip the tips until they’re covered. Store them in the plastic bag Grin sent them in on the top shelf of your refrigerator. Should be fine until Lste May or June if you’re wife doesn’t mind.

My plan...
Ordered bees wax from Amazon and will dip the ends in that. Rebag it with a tiny bit of moist paper towel. Put it in a soft sided cooler in the unheated garage until it warms up. Then I just put an ice pack in with it. This worked to keep my scion good until June last year.

I struggle with storage every year. I will probably try something like Small Chunk as our fridge has apples and fruit in it.
I have the beeswax and paraffin to dip ends like Carl says.
