Added 5 varieties from Fedco to go along with the 6 I requested from GRIN. It truly is a sickness I am trying to hold back on orders. That is wise. I looked at a bunch of wild crabs the other day and figured I could easily graft well over 2 dozen varieties to them.

GRIN requests - Anaros, Rome Beauty Law, Wayne, Jonsib crab, Waubay, Reta Fedco order - Beauties of Wellington, Whitney crab (gonna graft this one and see how it compares to my existing Whitney tree), Bullock (grafted this one before, winter killed it...want to try one more time), Spice Sweet (same deal as Bullock), Pomme Gris

I have wondered about hardiness of those Mercer crosses. Have you seen anything? Thanks for the link. For some reason I have struggled to view their apples with my phone. I Don’t use a computer much anymore.

I Don’t use a computer much anymore. I have two other varieties that have some Mercer in the genetic makeup, Wakapala and Ben Trio. Both came through last winter with zero problems. Wakapala has come through winters since 2015. Ben Trio was grafted last year, so the fact it came through the coldest winter I've experienced without any problems in it's first year would seem to indicate it should make it long term.

I think I have a wakapala somewhere out there on a flowering crab. Got to check. Seems like it might have had fruit but dropped before I got to it. Not sure.

I grafted Wakapala to one stem of a 4 pronged crab this spring. The crab had small, unremarkable fruit that dropped pretty early...so it wasn't doing much for deer. I thought it would be pretty cool to have a tree like that with 4 different varieties. I've got Tank on one of the other trunks, but my other two grafts didn't take. I will re-graft them next spring. The Wakapala put on a lot of growth, so I'm hoping to get to fruit in another year or two.
