This morning I figured I'd add a cut up Chestnut crab to my morning protein smoothie. Usually, I just use frozen berries or other fruit. The crab was a good addition.

Stopped at Woods Edge orchard near Buffalo Monday.
Got a big sack of First Kiss, Sweeet Tango, and ALMOST got a sack of Chestnuts.... but had to draw the line on how many apples we actually eat. So I skipped the chestnut. But sampled one while there. It was hard not to get some.

My chestnut crabs were extremely wormy this year, but I did cut out enough worms to get 1/2 kettle for applesauce. One kettle had all Kinderkrisp and Red Baron. My wife tried the sauce from that kettle and said that it was kind of bland. Mixing the chestnut crab sauce in with it was a big improvement!

Imidan I think I'm going to have to breakdown and try that next year. At least on apples I want to eat. Don't care about the deer only apples/crabs.

There are some other insecticides available to home orchardists too. I have had great results with the imidan

I have been doing Captan/Imidan. I think I need to invest in a sticker tho....probably pretty dumb to be spraying for the last 5 years or so without it!

Each type will include info on the label. Whether that info is proven as fact I do not know. I do know that the NuFilm P I used in early August seems to be awesome. I still find some spray evidence when I pick fruit. Nufilm P info www.millerchemical.com/products/adjuvants/nu-film-p/

I'm sure that type of info isn't out there.
