How about these for the right size? That would do it. Have you ever marked a spot and gave them a few days to get bigger? It's not a luxury I've had for years, but did do it a few times in my life.

Yes, I've done that. My wife found these this evening and I asked her the same thing. She said "hell no!". She's pretty greedy when it comes to shrooms... Have you seen much increase in size when you've left them? Weather's been great and it was the wettest fall and winter I can remember. She found 24 in a spot that we usually only find a couple. Hoping for a banner yr!

Those look awesome. Were they around dead elms? Those little greys are the best tasting mushrooms in my opinion.
I've left tiny ones before to see if they grow and they didn't. Some fresh ones pop out of the ground big on one day and some stay tiny. Maybe some can grow larger, but the ones I've left haven't changed much at all. Maybe you guys have better luck than I do leaving them to grow.

I believe she found them under a dieing ash. We find them under sycamore and cottonwood quite a bit. Most of our elms are on hilltops and dry areas. I check elm every yr but don't tend to find many. The grays I've left stayed small. The yellows I've left sometimes get bigger if it isn't windy and dry. But some just stay the same size. I've seen them "uncurl" out of the ground. My parents had them in their yard for a few yrs. One that was half curled and almost horizontal was straight and vertical a few hrs later. They are certainly goofy. Every time I think I've figured them out they prove me wrong.

They are rare and like gold to us. We seldom pass them unless we are absolutely certain nobody else is going to be in that spot. Plus it's always windy here and they are usually half dried out when we do find them. The good news is that she found a lot more in that spot than normal so maybe it's going to be a good season, and we won't have time to check any other spots until Saturday night or Sunday morning. Anything that's up will have a chance to grow a little.

What a bunch of fruit cakes. www.wsaw.com/content/news/Eau-508495001.htmlEAU CLARIE, Wis. (WSAW) -- Eau Claire Police say they responded to a bizarre situation Thursday evening at Walmart. Police said around 8:30 p.m. they responded to the report of two people and a dog causing problems in the store. Police said a 46-year-old woman was screaming in the store’s entryway, while her dog ‘shoplifted’ a box of Jiffy Cornbread Muffin. Police stated the woman’s 25-year-old son exposed himself to customers. The woman then went to the parking lot and began doing karate. Both people were arrested and face numerous charges. The dog was taken to the humane society.
