With all the passwords a guy needs now days it's ridiculous. There are software password managers out there, some free, some cheap and some costly. Does anyone here use one? If so what and why. Personally I don't use one but lately have considered it.

I use about 4 passwords for everything I do. All forum sites have the same password. All 3 email accounts I have use the same password. All my work accounts have the same password, and I have a random password for everything else. I only have to remember 4 and most sites allow you 5 tries to get in before you get the "too many log in attempts" naughty message. It has worked for me for the most part. What really pisses me off are these damn sites that give you the bullshit of "your password must contain....." 1 Upper case letter, 1 lower case letter, a number, a punctuation mark, 4 greek letters, 3 wingdings, and a fucking partridge in a pear tree......

I've got about 3 in my rotation. Except for the ones you describe. Then I just use the longest one and add crap to appease the password nazis.

At work we have to change our passwords every 30 days. And you can't use the last 5 passwords. I hate it.

I have to change mine at work every 90 days, it was 30 at one time. I did the password1, 2, 3 etc. can never use the same one twice EVER. Got up to 1000 I do the same as whip for forums, but banks an other sites require then to be changed, so I just keep a spread sheet with them.

I had tried using LastPass before and it was kind of a pain. Got a new laptop last month and currently using Dashlane, and it is better. They have free versions and also fancier versions. I have 3 password variations that I use, but due to changes and different websites I have over 10 passwords. I have my laptop at home set to remember quite a few which helps as long as no one else gets into it.
We have to change passwords every 90 days at work, and certain programs require signing in every 30 minutes if you are inactive. I used to open everything right away to avoid sign ins through the day. Now I might end up signing in 5-6 times in a 8 hour day if switching between programs.

At work we have to log into the network and then the programs. Use to be once logged into the program you were good till you logged out of the network. A few years ago both timed out after 15 minutes of no activity. Now you got to log into both again.
