If your trees are advancing like mine, at least some will be well past 1/4" green. It is pretty crazy how fast they grew in the past week. I think I was at 1/4" green a week ago and now some of the trees have main leaders that have 3" of new growth. Lots of variance though - some trees have large leaves and some aren't even 1/4" green yet. I'm assuming I should hold off on spraying until after the flowering phase, but let me know what you would do. I'd give up on the copper and dormant oil for the year. Copper can be used to deal with fireblight, but I've never done it. Copper can burn foliage and leaves. I'd plan to hit the trees with a dose of insecticide and fungicide at petal drop.

Once again, I did no dormant spraying. I imagine I will spray twice, June 1 and July 1 or so and call it good. We have about 4-5 inches of rain in about 20 hours. Two neighbors that are less than 1/4 mile apart have 1.25 inches difference. Hail, too. Things should grow with the heat.

I do know that I felt I needed at least one more spraying last year than I did.

I also need the air filters when mowing old dead grass and when sanding fish decoys. The mask just wasn’t doing enough.

Yep, I do wear a respirator when spraying fungicide/insecticide. The copper/dormant oil doesn't concern me much so I don't wear it then.

I brought up copper fungicide. Label says spray every 7 to 10 days if needed.
My apples have either not budded or just popped.
I know nothing about this. Haa

Haa If your trees haven't budded or popped, you can spray with copper. Adding dormant oil will help control insects/eggs that overwintered on the trees. Adding spreader/sticker helps both the oil and the copper stick to the tree longer. Copper is tricky though. You don't want to overdo it. Follow the label. Each copper fungicide differs

I bought a middle of the road 3M respirator. Right around $50 a few years ago as I recall.

I bought 3M respirator also. It came with two carbon filters and six dust filters. About $80 for all of it.
My buddy says to keep the bags the carbon filters come in and quickly seal them back up. I will probably zip lock bag them besides.

Forecast looks like calm winds for a few hours early tomorrow a.m. If so, I'll hit my trees with their second dose of Imidan/Captan/Indar...and maybe through a squirt of Eagle in there just for kicks.

Whats that intended to control?

Whats that intended to control? insects and fungi (apple scab, frogeye spot, powdery mildew, flyspeck/sooty blotch, etc). Got the second dose applied. I looked back and saw that I sprayed the first time on 6/10. 3 weeks between sprays isn't bad, but cutting a week wouldn't hurt either. I'll try to get a third spray done in 2 weeks, but it'll probably end up being late July.

I think I'll also try to get in my second spraying this weekend. I did notice that a lot of the trees I sprayed a month ago had a ton of insect damage when I sprayed, but they really bounced back since then. I probably should have been spraying years ago rather than waiting until now.

I don't enjoy spraying and always wonder how many bees/beneficial insects I'm killing.
That said, I also don't enjoy eating wormy, diseased apples and pears.
