Sitting in the Turkey blind this morning. Absolutely no gobbling. Had a lot of rain last night. The walk into blind was an adventure as there were small lakes every where. The walk in is usually dry but with the foot of snow last week and 2 inches of rain yesterday and overnight there is standing water every where. Hearing lots of ducks and geese this morning.

Sounds like a average day in the town of Hewitt. Good luck Tom When I hunted with my son last weekend there was no gobbling and they had no interest in decoys. I don't like applying for first week because the weather can be such a crap shoot by us.

Just fun getting out and enjoying what mother nature has to offer.

Good luck to ya, and enjoy being outside! I seldom hunt early in the season . I like it best once the hens start nesting and the Toms start to get desperate for action (that's the excuse I use for missing the early season anyway).

Where do you stay when you are at the land Tom? Staying at my daughter's place west of Shawano. Nothing so far just the one hen early this morning. I am thinking those storms last night and all the standing water is messing up the birds. On another note, a low spot just off the food plot is flooded, saw at least 20 mallards, wood ducks and teal land in it.

No luck today. Had one gobble in response to my calling this afternoon but he went in another direction. Back at it tomorrow morning

Out in the blind early this morning. Clear out and no wind. Moonlight made it easy to walk in. A few distant gobbles but nothing close. Guess I will just enjoy the scenery and noises that mother nature has to offer.
