Is that the top of a grain bin in the first picture? Snow is many feet deep? I saw 14 pheasants last week as I snowshoes by the corn plots. Surprisingly, over half were hens.

I've seen more pheasants this winter than any other since I've lived here. Not sure what that means if anything

The eagles moved in today. One is roosting in a tree in the adjacent grove. Another was on the ground out in the field. Pheasant are a no-show so far today.

My tree lines are full of snow . The camera is above waist high and look at the drift behind it. A few pheasants were going by the camera. Just a tough year for them. This one looks beat !

A few pheasants visit my corn plot every day as well as the turkeys. I doubt they are finding much corn. Do pheasants feed on flowering crabs? I can not remember seeing it.

I got a message from a high school buddy who lives about 10 miles north of foggy’s proving grounds. He says there are snow piles along the road that are higher than his pickup roof. He has never seen that much snow. They got 10 inches this week and I know the next town north had 14 the week before.

Pheasants do peck away at crab apples at times. Plum/chokecherry.
I might be somewhat lucky on pheasant survival. There’s a active cattle yard to my west and the birds are in there . If they can find an open exposed spot, or manure.. anything. They will be there.

I've seen pheasants feeding on red splendor crabapple fruit. I've planted quite a few for that specific reason behind my house.
