All my cameras are black flash. Wouldn't have it any other way, they are also sub $175. I'm heading to the 40 today to pull the cards. I'll post some night pic's and videos. One thing that I have learned is that black flash has better pic's/ videos when on a trail. They seem to work better with a background than they do in the open.

You can't hunt the fucking things at night anyway, so why the hell does it matter what they are doing or where they are hanging out once it is dark? Every deer on the planet could be on your 40 after shooting hours, if they are all gone by daylight, who cares? Not really picking on you specifically Brad, I just think way too much emphasis is given to having deer on camera outside of legal shooting hours when it doesn't matter one bit. You got daylight picks of lots of nice deer, I'm impressed! Disagree to help killing the fuckers and know what is around. Night time pictures are important. Sure you can't kill them then but it tells you what that buck is doing when and how they are using the land. It also helps identify bucks. Which ones are there often and which ones are not. Meh...that information is highly overrated if you never see them during daylight anyway. For those of us old enough to remember, plenty of huge bucks were killed every year before trail cameras were ever a thing.

But they likely will all show during daylight at somepoint somewhere and having more intel on the bucks tells you what buck you have the greatest chance of killing and which ones you should be passing. If you don't know what bucks have been there often its hard to know what you should be doing. If a big fucker is showing up often in a location at midnight during early season I can bet he will also be there during the rut and maybe late season during daylight when he is easier to hunt.

It is not hard at all to know what you should be doing, with or without the novelties of trail camera photos...I will refer you to your own signature line...
"Shoot deer that makes you happy not others happy. "
If a deer walks by during daylight and it gets you revved-up, you shoot it, otherwise you let it walk. NO trail cameras needed for that at all.

This is the first year I'm showing very promising results of my actions. Will I let a 6 walk by knowing I have a 8 or 10 in the hood. No Fricking way.

Would be extremely frustrating to be running a camera at night and seeing nothing but blurred images. That definitely matters. To me at least. The red IR seems to be the best balance between white flash and Black. I like the idea of having a black flash but the performance has to be reasonable. My sig line means don't feel pressured to not shoot small deer if that makes you happy. But if I got a big dude around that I think I may be able to kill and think I have a chance at him I will (sometimes) wait on him. I had a good solid 8 in bow range last year and passed and ate my tag. I'm fine with that. Now if I didn't know a bigger dude was somewhat frequently hanging around even at night I probably would of shot him.

I got to be honest Mike and I've done this several times over the years (both public and private land areas) If a hunting area is not able to meet my goals I will try to find a place that will. I had a place up in Taylor county that I loved but could not get the bucks to use it enough similar to you and I sold it. I hunted public land when I was younger and moved areas until I had better luck closer to my goals. I support your idea of selling the place and moving to a better area.

I just enjoy trail cameras 24 hours a day. I like knowing whats around. Including when a random wolf or bear strolls through after dark.

I typically only get night time pics of the big bucks by my house most of the time, but that changes in the rut and then I get daylight pictures for a short period of time at least. It makes it easier to pass up bucks if I know there is a big one running around.
At my WI place the last few years trail cameras confirm that my deer numbers stink and I should shoot the first legal buck to walk by.

Only a few night videos and no night pics. Here a day/night same camera and deer about the same distance from camera.

Chances are the new place will not be for hunting. We're looking to retire in the south/west part of the state or north/east Iowa. With chronic wasting as bad as it is there hunting will not be a priority.

I'd fence a smaller piece and grow the deer I wanted before succumbing to political deer numbers.
