Just got new Fimco sprayer and boom. Used for the first time yesterday. Extremely POOR design. On the manifold there is the capability of using pump to mix chemical in tank. The plastic tube slip on the manifold about a quarter of inch. When the chemical was mixing tube blew off the manifold and I was drenched in chemical before I could turn off pump.
Everything is hard plastic so no way to put clamp to hold together.
Has anyone else experienced this??? Like info, going to call company on Monday to lodge complaint!!!

Never use the agitator.

I won't but someone could be seriously injured/killed with wrong chemical.
Valve will be wired in off position till fix is provided or I make one.

That is not for mixing. It’s for light agitation while in use. And we never use it. Pre mix you chemical in a 5 gal pail with water, fill the sprayer half full of the amount of water you need, pour in your chemical mix, then finish with the rest of the water.

Why is it there if not to be used. Poor design. Purposes of Agitation. In the chemical and other processing industries, many operations are dependent to a great extent on effective agitation and mixing of fluids. Generally, agitation refers to forcing a fluid by mechanical means to flow in a circulatory or other pattern inside a vessel.
Did you learn the hard way and get doused?

Put 5 gallons of water in tank, then glyphosate and fill with rest of water. I usually take a lap around food plot to make sure it is mixed up good. Never had a problem.

I have the 25 gallon fimco sprayer with 12' or so boom. I've never used the agitator either and have been pretty happy with it in the years I have owned it. I sprayed 12 acres with it last week.

What kind of chemical were you using? Did you test it out before with only water to verify it worked ok before putting in chemical? I do that every time I use it because I've had seals go out that caused leaks and is rather find that out when there is only water in the tank versus round up or something else.

You're lucky to have not used the agitator.
Yes I filled and tested the sprayer for leaks the day before, things seemed to be working fine. I added roundup the next day and topped off with water. Used agitator to mix because tank was 3/4 full when roundup was added. Little scary with all the info about roundup causing cancer, cleaned up as fast as possible. Later in the day did 6 acres without using agitator.
Like I said previously valve will be wired closed so I or anyone else will never turn it on.

I have never had a problem with my fimco except for having to replace the tiny garden hose screen/ shutoff with an in-line screen for a larger tank because it kept plugging up resulting in poor flow/ pressure. Was the hose clamp not tight enough from the factory? I modified the agitator by adding a tee and lengths of tubing with 1/8” holes along the tubes and the ends capped. It really does make a difference when using crop oil with clethodim.

I also have never used it. I figure all the bouncing on my way to the area I am spraying is plenty of mixing in the tank.

I have to use the bypass/ agitator valve to keep the line pressure within operating levels for the sprayer boom. I had bought a used boomless sprayer but didn’t like it, so I ordered the 12’ folding boom kit that came with a new manifold that had no pressure regulator, and the new style quick attach for the tank/ boom. I use a deep cycle battery on the front rack of my atv to run it. If your pump keeps starting and stopping it is hard on the pump and will shorten it’s life. The spray tips should be using 20-30 psi for optimal droplet size/ operation. (Manufacturer specs, not fimco’s)

I believe the valve was designed to regulate line pressure, not to be use as a mixing/agitator function.
