You should build that rig on skids so you can move it around jordan! Trust me! I definitely wish I could move mine around easier!

Damn it - made the mistake of opening this topic while the wife was walking by. Now she thinks it would be a good idea to teach the girls responsibility and have fresh eggs. No way I am heating a place for chickens in the winter so hope she doesn't mind eating her pets every year.

A couple years ago, my buddy texted me pics of the chicken coop he built for his grandkids. He built it so they'd learn about where food comes from and to develop some responsibility. Last month he texted me pics of disassembling the coop He's going to turn it into an ice shack now. One not funny thing about that project is that he got salmonella from the tear down process. Sick as a dog for about a week he said.

Chicken shit was about the worst because it had to be pitched out at the worst time of the year, June or July right after butchering. Nothing like sweating your ass off and while getting coated in chicken shit dust.

Your lab has some restraint to not mess with the chicks. Thankfully we didn't get anymore chicks this spring and still have the 5. I'm guessing we might get a few more next year to keep the egg laying cycle fresh. Nice dog house turned coop too!

Jordan, keep an eye out for rats...we made it our first year without any but they moved in over the winter and they are not fun trying to get rid of them...in fact I hate everything to do with chickens right now.

Good pics of the kids!
Rats huh? We haven't had any yet... knock knock. Shot 5 coons last spring, otherwise no real problems at all of having chickens around.

Fucking Amish all started these chicken barns around here and now everyone has Rats. I hat them bastards. Been buying Rat bait by the 5 gal pails full lately. They love to dig in under chicken houses and grain bins. But they got into my last 1000 bales of straw and started cutting strings on the bales sharpening their teeth.
I hate fucking Rats!
