Lol, it's been a while since you brought that up, I was starting to worry about ya Mo! You are the smartest guy on here Cat! I bow down to you!
Edit: and she don't have to know how to cook, thats what burger king is for. And you can buy love on a street corner. So going for hunting land for these young kids only makes sense to me....
Been telling my boys this since they were 4 or 5 years old.

Not smart, lucky as hell! I was head over heels for her long before she showed me the home place. Read my edit for the kids in college right now. Dad always said "if it flies, floats, or f@###'s, better to rent it"

So what do you tell your daughters? Marry a rich doctor? Marry a farmer with a lot of land?

I’m telling my daughters they need to provide for my retirement on a 500 acre ranch. They can be the doctors and marry farmers.

I plan on inheriting a really big chunk of.... debt! Already bought a chunk of it outright, and watched 300+ sell to a neighbor cause I couldn't afford all of it. It's all good though, I view it as a deferred payment plan.

First goal in the spring is make more access trails on the edge of our woods and leave the rest as a sanctuary. Adding more acres to the no-go zone seems to be the right idea. Still not seeing huge benefits in MN, but it does seem to help.

Grass hills, good fence, no tillable, no hay, 2 ponds (not big enough for good fishing, good enough for cattle), no creek, no trees. I couldn't tell ya what it's been selling for lately.

Im going to move a stand into one of my sanctuary areas in the off-season… I’m all for a sanctuary, but so far it has not produced a buck for us… time to change. This one did not have enough good acres/cover to produce.
Otter Tail County land.

Daydreamer—we are going to end up moving a lot of stands this year . Bought a bunch more too . Never enough, and you learn a little each year . I like the March/April weekends with my boys, or friends. All day in the woods, can’t beat it ! Then a couple beers🍺 after!

I've been toying with adding a couple box blinds along the edge of my sanctuary. I know it would be fun to sit there and be able to see into my tamarack swamp, but I also think that I already am seeing most every buck that moves through here at some point. I'll never have a stand right in the swamp/sanctuary, mainly because I have no intention of dragging a big old buck out of there (or tracking one in there).
