I hate All the shit it takes to try catch a 3 inch perch. Only ice fishing I have Done past couple years is pulling the truck next to a fresh holes and ripping rattle traps on my bass rods.
I plan To get my spear house out Monday. I fenced of a section of the lake and loaded it up with rainbow trout and 40 inch pike.

I love it but it is a lot of work. I fish a tough lake to find fish but when you do it is crazy good. I just don’t have the time to scout the lake and stay on the fish. Nothing beats a pail of 12” perch.

They said to tell you thanks.

I ice fished a lot when I lived in Winona and there were dozens of good spots within 10 minutes of my apartment. Nothing tastes better than some chunky panfish caught through the ice.
I must not have liked ice fishing that much though because I gave it up once I got into rabbit hunting and habitat work. Every year i think about getting back into it, but I never do.

Still liquid here, and there's no moss to fight with!

As we age, we go back to our childhood. I want to do more fishing and less chainsaw time and less planting.

I'm determined to get my shit together at my place so most of the heavy lifting is done before I'm 60. I have a feeling I'll get tired of planting every year and manhandling birch trees all Summer. At that point, I'll just have a couple perennial plots to hunt over out of big sturdy comfortable box blinds and not give much of a shit if I shoot anything. I'll probably get a small boat and just catch sunfish under a bobber.

Every year I think I'm going to start icefishing again. Every year I'm wrong Hire a guide and take the wife. It's well worth the money and you only bring food and beverage. Each year a buddy and I ice fish the Chippewa Flowage by Winter Wisconsin, its allot of fun. Yes it costs us some money but he keeps us on fish all day. He moves us 3-4 times during the day and we're happy campers. Great area and great people. With tip I think it's 100 bucks each per day.

When both my kids got into hockey ice fishing was over..... i really dont have any desire to get into it again. Driving on lakes kinda freaks me out now. Know of a handful of people that have gone down on atv or trucks. I like boats. They float and i can up and move to a new spot in 1 minute.

Just plowed the roads along the ponds today. Cleared snow off of ice for house locations to freeze clean. Ice houses going out early next week. Along with ice fishing, some small game hunting. Deer hunting is pretty much over for me. Art, as one retired guy to another, give me a shout. Lets pull some 10" gills on my ponds

The young fellers I talk to from L.P. are up on Kabetogama spearing right now. Sounds like they've killed more bottles of Crown Royal and Busch Light than fish so far.
