I was surprised today on the ponds. Only a couple good inches of ice and very slushy. Clearing the snow will help. Be careful on the big water fellas!!!

My family has been running a perch derby for 40+ years. When I was about 5 I had just got a hot dog when my bobber went under. Needing my hands I shoved the whole hot dog in my mouth. Well, the photographer for the paper saw this and snapped a picture. It ended up on the cover of the sports page with some snappy caption. I was so embarrassed and my loving family hung that picture all over the house and store. I will see if anyone still has one after 35 years.

Bad ice in Perham area be careful.
With family in b-ball every weekend I have pretty much given up muzzleloader hunting and ice fishing. Bought a muzzleloader tag and never made it out...work and family kept me busy. Next year I need to either lower my standards or accept that I probably will not muzzy hunt.

The young fellers from LP who'd been spearing on Kab for a few days got home today. Ice up there was far from consistent. They did get a few pike in the upper 30s and low 40s. They also killed a bunch of Crown Royal and Busch Light.

Hard to get motivated for ice fishing after the deer season. I used to love it. Now it might be more confined to a few trips, or maybe a few times in the Ice Castle locally with my boys over Christmas break...if it is thick enough?

Nice fish. The lake I fish is either pan fish or perch and Walleye. They don’t swim the same depths. I hope to get out more this year but we don’t usually have safe enough ice for me until mid January
