Buy a new Honda Rancher 420 4x4 and you'll have no problems. They hold their value really well, so I think it makes more sense to buy a new one rather than buy a decade old version for 75% of the price of a new one.

That is exactly what I did and for same reasons. I love that machine. And I got the foot shifter too to keep cost down more and increase reliability even greater.

What's a new Rancher from the dealership cost (round about price)?

Depends on the model of the Rancher, but around 6k starting price.

oh, I was thinking the foot started at 6, and ESP or whatever pushed into mid 6. And lest not forget about the comparable Yamaha Grizzly.

Yeah, my new Rancher 420 was right around $6000 I believe, but I also bought a snow plow and winch with it so that increased the price a bit. I also bought the foot shifting model since I heard they were nearly bulletproof and so far after 3 years that has been the case.
If tomorrow someone offered me exactly what I paid for that machine I wouldn't sell it since I like it so much.

Most of the 2 strokes are racing machines, very high RPM , similar to 2 stroke dirt bikes. A buddy of mine had one for his son who raced bikes and ATV. That ATV was a death trap, zero to sixty instantly.

A buddy of mine had one and I took it for a ride once time. I was in 3rd gear just going along. I punched it and had the front wheels off the ground in no time.

When I bought my ATV I found a dealer who had new non current year models. This was in 2011 and I bought a 2009 brand new. Full warranty and thousands less. Well worth looking into. They are out there just have to find them.

same here.... bought my 2007 Grizzly in 2009. I called yamaha corporate and asked them to do a search on new non current inventory within 100 miles of me or something like that. They sent me a report with all the dealers that had what I wanted.
