Do you think they should have finished playing the game? I told my wife they have to finish the game and it is ridiculous to cancel the game for an injury.
She disagreed and I think I was called insensitive. I may be insensitive, but in my opinion, you can't stop a game because of an injury (or worse).
Hopefully the guy fully recovers and based on how quickly he was treated I would think he has as good of a chance as one can expect with that medical issue. You can't get treated much faster than he was.

CPR for 9 minutes is a long damn time having to sit and watch that.

Once I learned they were doing CPR on a guy on the field, cancelling the game was the only outcome I could fathom. No way are you going to get a bunch of guys back out there to play a kid's game once that happened.

I'm no medical expert, but I'm pretty sure CPR gets done where/when CPR needs to be done. Consideration for anyone/anything else doesn't exist at that point. All that matters is trying to save the individual's life.

All that matters is trying to save the individual's life. That's true. Patient stays put and everyone else is moved. Especially if there is a risk of spine or head injury due to a trauma. As far as making up the game... that's a tricky one in my book. How do you make up a game and not screw up rankings, playoff schedules, and bye's? The possibly of teams playing 2 games in the same week would now have to be considered.

I would surely hope if I collapse in the buffet line at Old Country Buffet, they arent going to drag me into a "CPR friendly" room before doing CPR.

I heard on Kfan yesterday that the game likely will not be made up. Their records will stay as is...... I didnt catch how that ultimately plays out.

The buffet line at Old Country Buffet doesn't stop for anything! Heart attacks are probably a weekly occurrence there. Hell, when I worked for IBM one summer, they had a doctor on staff to deal with medical issues including heart attacks. The old guys would joke that Monday was the prime day to have the big one since apparently they tracked that stuff. The factory never shut down though.

They should find out the exact cause of this… major study. The hit itself would not even be in the top 5000 hits in NFL history. There have been millions of hits in the NFL and this has never happened. Hopefully it never happens again, but if they don’t know the cause—it will happen again !

My wife is in sports medicine circles across the country. She said the experts are (for the most part) claiming it's likely commotio cordis. Force of impact has nothing to do with commotio cordis, it's a location and timing thing. Mostly happens in baseball though. The risk has always been there and has been known forever, just doesn't happen much. Freak thing. Of course no diagnosis has been made yet. There's always the chance he had a congenital heart defect that just showed up, shot up with meth right before the game, or simply had a body part mess up.

We discussed in another thread that few if any of us watch pro soccer. If you look at “alternative “ news sites you see mention of perfectly healthy pro athletes around the world (often soccers players) who have dropped dead in the last year or so. These news sites usually bring up the vaccine as a cause.
Maybe it is maybe it isn’t. If it was a factor here, the nfl will never admit it.

The doctor on Tucker Carlson last night was studying sudden deaths in young adults, which are way up in recent years !! He mentioned possible causes, and also brought up the Covid vaccine. He said that cannot be ruled out as of yet—if he was vaccinated?? I agree, it needs to be investigated. Otherwise we will see more young kids die for no reason. The odds of a young NFL athlete suffering anything major from Covid is slim to none, so why take any shots??
