I know a couple guys who sit in the suites often. There's plenty of talk among alumni and University Ridge players about getting rid of Gard.
Bo got close before the one and done era.
Coach K is one of, if not the best college basketball coaches of all time. I don't like Duke, but Coach K is a hell of a bball coach.
I will agree the UW system is fine for fair to good or developmental players. It most certainly is not good for great players.

What about NPOY year or runner up guys Kaminsky and Tucker? They didn't have any problem in the system. If they aren't great, we ain't getting great anytime soon.
Umm, the duke team that beat us for the natty was full of one and done.

Frank the Tank and Alando Tucker is where you're gonna rest your argument? lol "Great" players are those who go on and actually make a living as starting players in the NBA.

I don’t care what guys do in the nba. What does that even have to do with anything?
Do you think anyone cares where Kobe and Lebron went to college?

So Franks $10,000,000 made already is just pocket change, right? I suppose Jon Leuer’s $35,000,000 is too. Even Dekker made $8,000,000 in 4 years. I’d take that “living”.

Well, since the greatest basketball players in the world play in the NBA...a person wanting to see a college basketball team compete for and win the NCAA championship would therefore be concerned with how much future NBA talent that college team can recruit. If you want to watch the Badgers compete for and win the B1G championship, then you're golden. They'll pull that off once in awhile with Bo and Gard as coaches. If you want to see the Badgers compete for and win the NCAA tournament...something has to change. Your Kobe and Lebron argument works against you, not for you

Again. What does starting have to do with making a living?
You don’t have to start in the nba to make a living. Just stick a few years and you’ll have millions.

Every badger that has stuck in the nba for more than a year has made multi millions. Frank Alando Devin Leuer Steimsma Dekker Not sure how many started because I don’t watch the NBA. Doesn’t matter. They’re all laughing all the way to the bank.

People wanted Bo fired numerous times before that. Probably the same people whining now.

Again. What does starting have to do with making a living? You don’t have to start in the nba to make a living. Just stick a few years and you’ll have millions. My point about starting in the NBA had to do with talent level being recruited by Bo and Gard. You named three or four guys who have made some money in the NBA during the 19 years that Bo and Gard have coached at UW. I'm sure you can come up with another half dozen or so who made a few bucks in the NBA and/or Europe/China during those two decades. The point remains...neither coach is or was running a system that recruits the highest level players. If you want to win a NCAA championship, you have to be able to recruit the highest level players. The highest level players will then most likely go on to have lucrative careers in the NBA. I get that you want to back the UW. I do too. It just seems you're pleased with competing. I'd like to in my lifetime see them do more than compete. I'd like to see them dominate.

Do you think UVA won last year with high level nba players? Or that Villanova did? Those teams were built much like our final four teams. Multi year guys with nba guys, but not nba stars.
High level nba guys are typically one and done and we will never go that route. And I’m perfectly fine with that. We won’t cheat to keep up with the Dukes and Kentucky’s and I’m fine with that.
You call me a homer but I’m just being realistic. I get sick of badger “fans” complaining all over social media and the internet because they have no clue why we don’t get better recruits. AAU and shoe companies are a complete cesspool. Academics also plays a huge part in it. As does not promising recruits anything.
Herro decomitted because once he learned being a one and done was a possibility he wanted promises. Assurance he’d be a starter with 15-20 shots per game. UW doesn’t play that game. Calipari does. He wanted the fast track to nba $$. He made a good decision for himself. Won’t argue that. But Kentucky didn’t compete for a natty last year with all their high level nba talent so who gives a shit?
And for all the high level talent they get, guess when their last final four was? Same as us.
The one and done rule (which is an nba rule) should be gone soon. Will be interesting to see how that changes the game again.
