In the history of planet earth, and among all sports, other than Tom Brady, who is the best to have ever competed? I will share the answer after some guesses.

Tom Brady is a system quarterback. Without Belichick he likely would have retired years ago.
I'll throw Michael Phelps out there. Carl Lewis deserves mention too.

Barry Sanders. Was behind the worst offensive line ever and still racked up yards.
Phelps is a big one as well as Lewis (good call smsmith). Gretztky (spelling). Bolt. Anderson Silva or George St. Pierre Allison Stokke (might want to google her)...

Are you going by position? I will say in my lifetime 44 years old I would go with the following. QB Dan Marino, RB Barry Sanders WR Jerry Rice TE gronkowski DB Deon Sanders LB Lawerence Taylor DL Reggie White
BB Michael Jordan
Baseball Barry Bonds for dirty players Griffey Jr if you don’t want him Pedro Martinez
Tiger Woods

Michael Jordan was the most dominant athlete I’ve ever witnessed.
Most talented player (but lacked hustle) at times... Randy Moss. If he played hard and gave 100% like a Pete Rose, nobody would have ever been better.

U can only pick one. And then justify it. Beyond breaking records.

All Time Jim Thorpe - he won Olympic gold medals in the 1912 pentathlon and decathlon, and played American football (collegiate and professional), professional baseball, and basketball all while being a big fan of the Fire Water and raising 8 kids.
Other Candidates Bo Jackson - freak of nature Wilt Chamberlain - less about basketball and more about banging 20k broads in his lifetime Michael Jordan - multi sport and redefined basketball Hershel Walker - Vikings results aside he was a beast including olympic bob sledding. Tom Brady couldn’t push a bobsled.

All time, one sport I would go Babe Ruth. He hit more homeruns then entire teams and he did it as a drunk fat man.
