I would love to try the NH red deer crab and the NH Gold if that is a late dropper. I’ll get you some Chummer. I’m not sure if it’ll be next weekend or later. I’ll have them on the way by the end of February for sure. Thanks, no rush I won’t be grafting till end of March

Thanks, no rush I won’t be grafting till end of March I actually have 3 late hanging red deer crabs. Years ago I never paid attention and thought they were all the same. A couple years ago Stu asked me how they tasted and I picked a few. They’re different. I’ll send scions on two of them. The third one is headed down hill a little. It’s along a road and not getting good sunlight. I pruned it good last spring thinking that would pop it into some new growth but, it hasn’t responded well. The other two are late bloomers and late droppers. Always have produced. I’ve got to think up a name for the second one. I’m thinking Bunkhouse Deer Crab since it’s near our bunkhouse.

I've been surprised by how different wild crabs here taste. Many have fruit that look quite similar, but they sure don't taste similar. Some hang all winter, some don't make it to November. There's one tree about 3 miles south of me on a county road that I've tried grafting without success. It is loaded (LOADED) every other year. The fruit is about ping pong ball size and is slightly sweet. Fruit hang on that tree until about now, maybe another week or 10 days. Then what's left drop. The deer must visit that tree every night as there's one hell of a trail/beat down area there. I need to grab scions and try grafting that one again.

I ordered 2 of them a month ago and they sent me an order confirmation/invoice and they had Franklin canceled. I have a call into them so we will see if they change their story.

If you can't source a Franklin tree or scion this year, I should be able to hook you up with a scion or two or next year.
