Where did you see that? That would help take out another pile of bucks out of the gene pool down here. I could see the DNR open up the use of rifles in the CWD zones first, but I really hope they don't.

Its in the editors piece of this weeks Outdoor News. Sounds likely a go statewide.

I really hope that doesn't get approved - I thought removing the APR's was about as bad as it would get down here. There won't be a mature buck moving in daylight down here if we allow a month of gun seasons with rifles.

to me
The official vote will be on February 22. I would predict it passes fairly easily, but nothing is binding until the 22nd. Craig Engwall MDHA Executive Director 218-327-1103 ext. 13 218-244-6822 (cell)

I had figured it was coming soon with the "spread" of CWD.
Now I can use my old man's .308 Winchester. It hasn't been fired for years.

I'm all for it. More reliable and accurate weapon for a more lethal and humane kill. Less wounding and lost animals.

I agree there could be less crippling on the former borderline 100 yard shotgun shots since now that's a relatively easy rifle shot, but now guys will open up on every deer on the edge of rifle range, which could now be 200-800 yards.

Unethical hunters are going to be unethical hunters no matter what weapon is in their hands.

I thought we heard a lot of shots during gun season at the new place. My parents have seen up to 50 deer w/in 1/4 mile of our place this winter. Either we have 100's of dpsm or people are terrible shots.

Unethical hunters are going to be unethical hunters no matter what weapon is in their hands. I would rather the unethical hunters stick with spears or clubs instead of rifles- I'm just against anything that kills more deer and this certainly will do that.

Odds of crippling a deer at 100 yards with a recurve are super low. They climb big time with any gun. Every yard you expand radius of opportunity increases odds of a shot exponentially.
