Rifles will kill more deer in farm country, without a doubt. There will be guys shooting 300-400 yards. Deer will be even more nocturnal, plus it will add to our pre-season poaching issues.

once again, if deer numbers go down because of rifles being legal statewide there will be one group at fault...deer hunters. Art still has deer running around at his place, and he's clearly in farm country.

I'm all for it. More reliable and accurate weapon for a more lethal and humane kill. Less wounding and lost animals. I am in farm country this will really hammer the deer. Bucks especially. Survival rates are low anyway. This really sucks. Here's 1 for ya. I'm in the rifle zone, surrounded by amish brown it's down, mixed farm country, and still have plenty of deer around. It's not that big of a deal.

But your area has dense swampy cover. Hideouts.
Sw mn.... no dense swamps.

It’s no comparison. We have sections with 5-10 acres of total cover. There’s already a hunter in every wood lot, yikes, now they can cover big chunks. I’m really hoping this won’t pass.

Wisconsin went to Rifles in all areas a number of years ago unless a town ordinance was in place to prevent it. It has not been an issue. In fact for a safety it has been a help.

If Engwall is saying it will pass easily, then you may as well get used to it.

His relatives have taken plenty of big bucks too. I'm shotgun, why isn't my quality 2-5 times better than in 214 just a mile north? I know guys hunting just a few miles north of me and they're taking plenty of nice deer, and have higher deer numbers overall too. Not a big deal in the overall scheme of things. As far as a section having 5-10 acres of cover...ain't many deer gonna live in such a section anyway.

This isnt the end of deer.
But its not going to help deer.
Mr fudd in his redneck can whack a deer at 400 yds now in farm country.

If you could see the deer that gets pulled out of Todd/ottertail counties in the rifle zone you'd think differently. A lot of people I know don't share the big bucks they shoot because of poaching/privacy issues. Edit: I chose to buy in the rifle zone for the very reason in knowing that it was a more deadly and effective weapon, plus I hate tracking a wounded animal.
