i purchased a whitefish spearing decoy. This was made by one of the Bethels who have made decoys in the Park Rapids area for generations. Bru-Ell whitefish spearing decoy. I have two or three of these. Does anyone have whitefish decoys? I dont even know if you can say whitefish any more. Pro Forum mods likely doing a background check on you.

What type of wood and metal did you use Art? Any lead in them? Were those designed to spin in circles or stay in one place?

Yesterday, I went over to the decoy show in Alex and added some more mini decoys to my collection. I had an interesting and fun visit with an 83 year old fellow. He made the front decoy, one of only two of these he has made. He is a retired dairyman and veteran. He told me that his Dad used to sit by the wood stove and whittle decoys. That is how decoy carving started.

These two might end up in the water this winter.

. I finished a couple of decoys. The sunfish was an unpainted blank that I finished. It will be in the water in a few days if I can find enough ice. the smaller decoy was entirely hand carved.

My favorite mini decoy is the sunfish decoy from my fishing buddy. The other decoy is a whitefish spearing decoy.

I finished my second decoy in over 20 years. Holy shit. How long would a 12 inch decoy take?
