Thirty some years ago, I came home from work and a small bulldozer was taking out some trees and my fence along the township road. I stopped him and told him he would have to only work on the other side of the road as all of the sand blew in from that way. I was not too popular after I asked the supervisor who lived one mile away why he couldn’t stop and talk to me about the fence and trees during one of his many trips by my place before they started doing the work. And the fact remains, that I own the land.

What's kind of funny (to me anyway) is that I asked the guy why the fuck the Township was billing me for work that had been completed. His answer..."because I fucked up". The dumb fuck just sent certified letters (at $8 a pop) to everyone in the Township. You pull into my driveway with an attitude after you "fucked up" and want to correct me on what I said in a voicemail? I don't think so. I'm now expecting the bill to arrive (likely under $100, it's not about the money it's about Township incompetence) for "failing to mow". When it does, I'll be back on the phone busting some balls. I told my wife it may be worth more to me to spend some $$$ fucking with the Township than investing it into the market.

Not really embarrassed but it’s an old pic. My first elk taken on my third trip out west. A button bull called in to about 5 paces. I think it was 1998 or 99.

It was the first time in my life I had a bull screaming at me close. I had enough experience to know I was no longer going to pass a shot on a DIY hunt. I was in oak brush so thick I could barely see 10 yards. When this one stepped out I let an arrow fly without any hesitation.
We drank a bunch of homemade wine that night that the cabin owner gave us. That stuff was so potent we should have used shot glasses.

Found another old pic and still not embarrassed. Archery kill from around 2009. Tiny bit of a drop tine. My second biggest buck. Killed him early October when it was 80 degrees. Jumped string on the first shot and I just broke his skin on the neck. He eventually came back and I killed him.

I took my new Ruger American Ranch rifle (5.56) to a town range the other day. I've got a 1-5X scope and a suppressor on her. I'd sighted her in here in the front yard previously, at 50 yards and wanted to verify that, and stretch it out.
When I got there, I dropped a quick group at 25 yards just to be sure, and it was good. So.... I moved over to a bench at the 100 yard range. "This seems like a long 100 yards." I thought. "Boy, my eyes are bad. I might need to get more than 5x magnification for this rifle." I shot and I shot and adjusted and adjusted and couldn't understand why my groups were big and the scope adjustments were wacko. I went home unsatisfied.
Last night at work while I waited for a load of milk to finish loading, I had the epiphany. It was 200 yards. I'm an idiot some days. Confirmed by Google maps.

I think moving out here to the wide open prairie has changed my distance perception. Now that I can see dirt to the horizon, maybe things seem closer.
