What’s an afternoon hunting strategy? Got close this morning but couldn’t get my daughter set up with the crossbow as we ended up running and gunning. Didn’t spook them so hopefully still on property this afternoon.

Didn’t spook them so hopefully still on property this afternoon. Walk and call travel routes to catch a tom after the hens left to nest. My experience is they don't always gobble mid-day so setup, call, wait, move, setup, ect.

I’m in the blind this morning. Surprised at the lack of gobbling after two days of rain. I doubt I last long as I know there are morels out there. On such a small property, I’m not picky, even a jake would do.

Anyone ever shoot a bearded hen? My dad’s place had a couple bearded hens during the 15 years he owned it. I only saw them while working outside on projects. Never saw them while hunting. I would not shoot one even though they are legal.

Anyone ever shoot a bearded hen? I shot over a tom and the arrow ricocheted and head skewered and bearded hen about 70 yards away.

That's really neat. I've seen an antlered doe, but never a bearded turkey. Congrats on the bow kill! Were you in a blind or in the open?

That’s a nice hen beard. The ones I saw were very thin and hard to see unless you had a profile view.

Dad and I sat down to work a bird on roost yesterday. A hen exploded 10 yards away after a couple of minutes of listening to gobbles. That was the end of that set. I hope she comes back.

The youngest got his turkey feet put up. The turkey is flipping a double "bird" as he goes down the meat grinder... last act of defiance.
