Wow, that's ^^^ unimpressive. Thistles are a bitch to control, so I get that...but the rye doesn't look like it was bothered a bit?

I didnt get a chance to check my clover plot after spraying cleth for grass a couple weekends back. My next issue will be the thistle because that was coming in strong.

I'm kind of embarrassed to say how many hours I've spent pulling thistles this year, but I'm sure it's well over 40. One thing about it though, when you pull them...they don't come back. I've had thistles come back from the root after nuking them with gly or Trimec. Milestone kicks thistle ass, but I won't use it around my fruit trees.

My wife took a couple pics of one of my weedy clover plots. This plot is one I've struggled with for years. The lower end of the plot is wet until late June or July (not this year) and the weed seed bank is more than full. The upper end is light soil, but also full of weed seeds. I decided to spread a metric shitton of clover seed with a bit of alfalfa and chicory mixed in and just "let it go". I will hit it with the billy goat once a year to keep the brush from moving in and frost seed more clover every year. Deer are bedding in this plot now, so the weeds aren't all bad. It looks like the lower end will have a good stand of Fixation again. It did well there a few years ago too.

Some pics from a weedy clover/chicory plot. Deer aren't letting the chicory bolt yet. Anybody/everybody know what the broadleaf weed is?
