Looking for ideas or suggestions... I have this little pond that is full of very stunted bass (6 inchers, can catch one on every cast) and very large green sunfish. Thinking of putting a handful of black crappie in it or a couple of 5lb largmouths. Would the big bass prey on the little bass and get bigger? Would the crappie outcompete the little bass for forage and get bigger? Would anything likely change at all? Ideas? How big is the body of water? Do u or anybody in ur family like pickled fish?

If ur duck pond is a loafing pond for the birds, then both ducks and minnows/fish can coexist pretty well. Ime

Go time later today....assuming it stays dry. Bluegills & black crappies are the target

That's a cool looking pond. Is it natural or did you dig it out?
I need to clear some brush from a few areas around my pond and put some rock down like you did. That will make the access much easier and make it easier for my kids to catch critters on the waters edge.

It's small. Not sure how to tell you a size... maybe 1/8th of an acre? Why ask about pickled fish? What's your idea?

I love using 6-7" crappies for pickled fish. Leave the rib cage in. Very fast cleaning. I would image the small bass would be the same.

Any ideas on making a pond like this good for anything other than 6in bass? I would load it up with 5-8" bluegills. 25-50 of them. Then remove a bunch of the smaller LMB hook and line

You don't think the green sunfish will outcompete them?

Reading the post I missed the big green sunfish!! Have u tried trapping the greenies? Nope. Highly doubtful I could trap enough to put an end to a breeding population. Just wondering if adding anything could make a change. We've been catching a lot of 3-5lb bass lately that could be transferred. I don't have any black crappie in our ponds that I can catch regularly, but I can buy some if I wanted to.

I doubted there is much of a forage base, surely not many minnows or fry could survive in that situation.
