Not a flower... but LOTS of milkweed this year I've got a bumper crop this year as well. As I was driving south outta Fargo yesterday, the road was a killing field for butterflies. I've got my fingers crossed they weren't monarchs, but I couldn't quite tell. By the time I got home, it looked like the suburu took got hit with a hundred packets of mustard.

Noted observation on wildflowers...if you want to grow New England Asters in high dpsm areas, you better protect them. The last two years mine have been chowed pretty much to the ground.

I havent been back since spring to check our 3 acres of natives we planted about 6-7 years ago..... I might have to do that this weekend.
Interested to see how they are doing in a near zero rain situation.

I used to have nearly 5' high N.E. asters in the fall. That was back when I wanted more deer around. I guess a guy can't have everything...

I had to look up buttercup, not a flower/weed/forb I'm familiar with mine get tall like this. I had a large one in my spoils clover, and there was only one leaf left, and a stem about as thick as a sharpie that was chewed within a few inches of the dirt. Otherwise, I haven't hardly seen it, and it's usually all mixed into my clover.

Pretty sure my grandma used to call that crowsfoot.

I frostseeded a lb. of Russell Lupine seed into some old gopher mounds this morning. Also scattered some Dames Rocket (don't tell the DNR) and Cosmos seeds. I've got another lb. of lupine seed that I'll frostseed along our road frontage where the power company trenched in new line last fall. That exposed soil should work well for frostseeding.
I also ordered 20 Virginia Bluebell rhizomes to plant come May. My Grandma planted a few on the old place probably before I was born. There were literally thousands of them growing in shady wooded areas by the time I sold. Pretty cool sight in the spring.
