I think that was discussed as a side affect to be honest.
You better have one big ass atv to lift something like that.... or a big utv....

That's too much work. You need to buy SD's flail mower that he has for sale on the other forum. No flail mower for me. I am getting close to pulling the trigger on a Swisher rough cut to pull behind the atv. Soon... You will really like the swisher rough cut. I added a bracket on the tongue to mount the lever that engages the blade. That made it faster to hook up and go than having to screw that in the back rack every time I wanted to use it.

We permanently mounted the engagement handle on the mower.... After it somehow came off the atv and got run over with blades engaged... ooops.

I thought he just bought it last year. He did - I guess his atv winch couldn't pick it up since it was too heavy. Is this why he left? He couldn’t face the shame of a failed flail after all the hype? He should come back. Or at least the cat should if SD doesn’t.

He did - I guess his atv winch couldn't pick it up since it was too heavy. That's crazy. Sell the atv and get one that can lift the thing. A mower like that on the very front of an ATV would be very difficult to handle. Suspensions on ATV's are not built that heavy and I imagine the power of the mower yanked the ATV around allot. It probably wasn't nimble and unless you are going in a straight line would be hard to control. A UTV would work better but even then I would want to see a unit operate before buying.

I think the suspension was not quite HD enough to operate the flail. No way to beef it up. Its too bad....was kinda looking forward to seeing that work out. Not sure why he was so adamant about the front mount? I suppose so the tires didn't lay down the material....but this is not an issue with my three point flail. At the same time....I was promoting the pull type over the front mounted for him. I think this was a painful lesson.

I just looked up how much the Boss snow plow I had installed on the Ranger weighs...190 lbs. When the hydraulics lift it up, you can definitely feel the Ranger "squat". I can only imagine what 200+ lbs. would do to an atv's front end.

I have an old rough cut swisher at my cabin and a newer one at my house and I have the same type of mount on both. It takes a little trial and error to get it mounted close enough to engage from the ATV seat, but far enough back that it doesn't hit the rear ATV rack when you make a tight turn.

Here's a picture of the homemade mount I made for the Swisher controls. I cut my weedy clover plot yesterday and the Swisher worked well like always. Lots of rain today, so my timing was good for once.
