I have never heard anyone talk about this, but I have a bunch of pines that the gophers are chewing off the roots at the stump and the trees are falling over. trees that are 8 ft plus tall. Here are pics showing gopher tubs at the base of a couple of these. I can pull the tree out of the ground and there are zero roots. Just a stump under ground thats a knob. Anyone ever seen this? Damn gophers cant read my sign in the last picture and stay out.

We've seen the same thing happen. We have more then enough pines so it isn't a real problem there but they really piss me off when they get into my food plots. I set traps whenever I see new mounds.

Its not a big problem, but they have killed a lot of trees the past couple years. Never would have thought this was an issue to have to deal with.

Gophers....yep, them damned people from MN?!? They talk funny, bitch about QDMA chapters that don't exist, bitch about how much snow they get, and have a general discontent for their government! Thankfully I live in IN, so no gophers here! We do get the occasional Buckeye.....we try to chase them back to where they came from and wildcats we chase back across the river! Yep....you damned gophers just stay away!

I caught another one today with the Gopher Hawk. Ordered two more from Gempler's just to have back ups. One thing I've experienced with them is that I catch the bastards, but can't pull them out of the hole. I end up with "parts"...head, neck, throat, etc. No big deal, dead is dead. I suppose if I widened the holes out more I could get the carcasses out

Sign of spring, but not a good sign.

Sign of spring, but not a good sign. Your pic made me go out and check. I found one new mound. Dropped a gopherhawk in and poisoned the tunnel. Seems most spots are still pretty much frozen solid.

The slight northsloping hayfield is frozen. The south facing hayfield has a few new mounds but it will be plowed and planted to corn this year.
