I shouldn’t brag yet, but it looks like the Smitty’s seedling took. Now I need to find where I put Pipsqueak.

Looks like the bees did their job. The Smitty’s Seedling grafts will produce apples this year. To the best of my knowledge, yours will be the first Smitty's to produce fruit besides the mother tree. I will be interested to see how they do for you.

I had a nice single Colorado Orange apple on that tree last year and something nabbed it before I could eat it.

They usually start to ripen right around the end of the second week or beginning of the third week of September. They don't all ripen at the same time though.

Fucking coons have pretty much completely wiped out the fruit on my Smitty's tree. They did this last year too. Not sure if they just favor the fruit or if it's location dependent. I need to get some stovepipe around the trunk for next year.

This year's Smitty's fruit. Not much left after the coons got into the tree. Maybe a dozen apples or so.

The mailman brought me some apple seeds yesterday. Thanks, Stu! What should I call a seedling from a seedling?
