Beauty Mike! Really taking it up a notch! Thanks, I've learned a lot since I've started. The "knife artist" formally known as Tool'n.

Kinda cool watching his biz grow from the start. Now stainless. Well done Mike!
Curious......What does stainless add to the cost of production? In the way of time and materials?? I think stainless puts you in another league.

I think stainless puts you in another league. Stainless is 4x the cost of 1095. The procedure changes some with the added step of Cryogenic treatment. The deep freeze makes the steel harder and more stable. The only draw back is it cuts into profits as I can't sell a SS blade for 4x the cost of a 1095. I just don't see that happening around here.

Last weekend my local village held it's festival. I set up a canopy in the arts and crafts hoping to sell a knife or 2. There is more to the story and here it is. Last weekend at SpencerRama I met Nathan Dunmire. To say he is a knife enthusiast is putting it mildly. We spent a lot of time talking knives and the conversation turn to another subject he is very passionate about. Veterans and supporting them. He belongs to an airsoft group that consist mainly of combat vets. They find solitude and companionship in their group. They are hosting an event called Operation Coming Home. This event raises awareness for P.T.S.D. & #22ADay. They have several sponsors who have donated prizes for a raffle they are having with all the proceeds going to www.gotyoursixk9s.org/ . The more we talked the more I wanted to help. So, I decided to make and donate them a knife that will be in the raffle. Nathan stopped in today and picked up the knife, for the event which will be held July 1st.

Made this Ulu for the wife. SS blade that was tumbled in ceramic media right after heat-treat and tempering was done. Got to thank Cat for the Locust handle and base material .

I finished another ULU today. It has a SS (aeb-l) blade polished to a mirror finish. The handle & stand are Black Walnut that has a burl/knot in it. The grain & pattern is really something and the picture doesn't do it justice. Selling this one will be hard as the wife loves it & finding another piece of wood this unique will be hard.
