Nice work Mike. Looks like a great no-nonsense knife. I have seen some nice knife sheaths on Amazon for just a few dollars. Seems they have all sizes available. How many hours work do you have in that project? Engrave "Deer Habitat Forum" on the blade.....and I am a potential customer. Engraving in the handle or in the blade?

I suppose the blade would be better? Wonder if an acid etch is in order. The customization (name or organization) may lead to more customers? Dunno. I was looking on that site above listed on Facebook. Seems their knives find a home at prices around $150 or so on similar size knifes. Wonder if you can make that pay with the time and effort you gotta put in? I used to own a laser engraving machine (yag) that would mark anodized aluminum with ornate designs. I tried to sell some of our telescoping hiking sticks with laser engraving.....but it never took hold for me. I wanted to do a state fair hiking stick with MN Bound on the stick.....or some such thing. No dice. I did have our target knobs laser engraved with the the MOA data and our logo and such.....but farmed that out to someone with better equipment.

Figured blade would be best as it would wear on the wood. Just wanted your opinion. I've looked into acid etching for a makers mark. Don't dig that deep though. There's a throphy shop that did some engraving for me years ago. Don't know if they are in business yet but I'll check.

I just watched a video on it on YouTube and it looks interesting. I think just a name or logo would be slick but you can go to so many levels with this stuff. Here is the video I watched. I gotta go play golf. FORE!

Acid etching was the first thing that popped into my head. Probably some other things that could be done at a reasonable price.

Can't send pics in a message so it goes on the thread instead. I actually like the section of main beam between the g1 and g2 as a handle better than the base. A small part of the g2 makes a nice wedge for your pinky finger to wrap around. Antler.polishes well for a little painting or engraving. Brass is soft enough to engrave or stamp.

^ I kinda like that knife with a hole in the blade. May save your fingers.....and would be hard to slip with a reasonable grip. I have a few old fixed blade knives.....but have always wanted a quality fixed blade. I generally carry two folders in my pack. Nothing special....but my wife bought me a nice Buck Folder some many years back.....and that is my favorite.

I find the hole a good place to press with my middle finger while skinning or doing a rough flesh. Seem to have more control over a swiping motion. Scrap antler tips can be put on the sheath for added whatever. I don't really know what it adds but I bet it's worth a couple cents more with them on it.

Tom I already have some leather in my Amazon cart as well as some of the sheaths. But I'm going to try a different route. I've got a small rack that's not big enough for a handle. I'm going to use it mounted to a piece of board. It will be a display/stand. Even though the knife is tough and sharp I like the display idea and hope anyone who gets one feels the same way. I'm also going to look into getting a brass plate engraved. Maybe a picture of a buck and a name or something along that line.
