For any of you guys that haul your tractor, what do you use for a trailer?

2x 7k axle single wheel on 24’ length Load Trail. Or one of my work trailers. Get at least a 22-24’ length one. Helps big time with attachments and FEL

I have a "car trailer". It's a 16' trailer with a 2' beavertail......made by PJ trailers. Tanedm axel, electric brakes. I'd say it's the minimum length to haul a tractor......and will not allow an implement to be attached at the rear........tho I can leave my loader on. Mine is licensed to 12,000 lbs......but it does not need that capacity. I do wish mine was 18' or perhaps 20' long. I found a used (like new) trailer for $1600......so I suppose the price was a driver to buy this trailer.
I think K9's suggestion of 22 -24 feet is a little excessive for average use. That is a pretty long trailer behind most pick-up trucks.

For any of you guys that haul your tractor, what do you use for a trailer? I rented a trailer when I purchased my Tractor and i keep it on my property so I have not purchased a trailer. I am in the market for a trailer but I have not made it a priority. I would not buy something like a heavy equipment trailer (14k+) as it will get to be to much to handle. I was thinking 20', 10k lbs. Ramps are something to consider as I want them as wide as possible and the older we get the heavier they are so it would be nice if they were easy to handle. If you find the perfect trailer post it up I'd like to see it.

If you find the perfect trailer post it up I'd like to see it. One thing Freeborn hit on was the ramps. I have some HD angle iron Ramps that store under the beavertail in a slide-in compartment. They are a pistol to handle and can be hard on this old back I have. They look harmless enough.....but they can be a pistol to handle. Also, mine are prone to detach just as the tractor is entering the ramp as they can tilt up and not come down where they belong. I have taken to put zip ties on the ramps to hold them in place until I am done. I also use Jack stands under the rear of the trailer to prevent so much weight pulling up on my vehicle's ball mount. I would rather have some provision built into ramps that fold up on the back of the trailer (thus killing two birds with one stone). I have a treated wood deck. Occasionally I use some old engine oil to re-waterproof the deck boards. Seems to help preserve their life. As Freeborn points out.....a trailer rated to about 7000lbs or so is adequate for most small tractors. I use my trailer for a variety of hauling chores......handy to have at times (lumber, deer blinds, fertilizer / lime).

If I were buying a new trailer and money was not too big of an issue.....I think I would go for one of these tilt-bed trailers. It would last a loooong time if you took care of it.

If I were buying a trailer to haul a tractor I'd make sure it was long enough to leave the bucket on and have room enough for a brush hog. Tip up ramps that have a built in leg are nice but have there disadvantages. I really like the one Foggy posted above.

I like the tilt trailers (maybe I just hate heavy ass ramps). I used a skid steer for several yrs on the job. Always took at least 2 implements with me. 1 gets loaded on the front of the trailer before pulling on, and 1 attached to the steer. So... make sure its long enough as it doesn't do much good to be at the job site without everything you need.

With a tractor and loader that space in front could hold an implement and suspend (or attach) the loader bucket to the implement. With a small tractor, I think you could "get by" with an 18 foot trailer and still have room for an implement on the three point.......but a 20 footer would be better. Get two 3500 lb axels and you could haul most small tractors and implements (or cars) very nicely with a 1/2 ton pickup. Too much longer and heavier trailer may become unwieldily......unless you got the right truck for it.

Subcompact tractor on a 14 foot bed. If i load the tractor with 5 foot brush hog about half the brush hog hangs off.
If i have the tiller on it fits
16 or 18 foot trailer would be better i think.

Here is one I was looking at. 20 foot 10,000 lb GVW rating. With the way the ramps are designed, if I got a brush hog it could still stick out back if needed. It is powder coated so paint should last.

Spoke to the dealer, with the tractor I am getting with a loader, it will fit on 16 foot trailer, tractor with loader and a tiller will fit on 18 foot trailer. Tractor with loader and 6 foot brush hog will fit on 20 ft. Said the tire of brush hog might stick out but doubted that it would. There is 4 feet in between the ramps and with the shape of brush hog it should work. Looking at other trailers with slide out ramps also.

Ok, got ya. Forgot about the tail wheel on the brush hog. Fold up ramps with the legs are easier on the truck when loading anything.

I have all these things and experience it weekly. Legally you need to flag anything sticking off the back, which I think you know. I also have the gravity tilt deck. Very nice
