It's pretty rare for someone to voluntarily leave a cushy government job like that. Makes me wonder if there is more to the story than we are being told.

If you can leap into the non-profit world as your payoff for time served, it'd pay to go. He could be have reached full vesting in the pension plan and now just needs to ride it out in some do-good NPO making $100,000 letting the strib use his name to validate DNR policy like Engwall does. It'd allow him to bank up his years before drawing his pension.

Lots of loose talk that he was a grab asser during his tenure. We talking about Art now? I'm a bit disappointed if this is true. I've been out fishing with art a couple of times now and have had lunch with him and he's never tried to grab my ass.

No clue who Lou is or how good he was at his job (other than bits and pieces picked up on this forum). I have however seen many administrative types let go under the preface of "if you leave quietly we'll let you say it was your idea to move on". Any possibility that's the case here?

when veterinarians play grab ass they go arm pit deep. If you see a pair of shoulder length gloves in Art's tackle box you better be careful-

The wording of the article made me think that initially, but who knows. Usually when they leave on good terms for another job it is referenced. Although I heard a rumor he was heading south since he heard Kansas had way too many big bucks that need to be properly regulated and thinned the hell out. Just a rumor though.

Already unlimited NR tags, long seasons, no regulations on outfitters, and understaffed with game wardens. He could move rifle season into the rut and give out more than 1 buck tag a year. No thanks!
