Am I the only one that actually hunts on this site or what. Might be! I won't hunt until it's closer to the rut (and the doves aren't flying anymore). Keep after it, I'm enjoying your posts.

The best time to predict mature bucks movement is either now or late in the season if you have food. They are still in summer patterns.

The best time to predict mature bucks movement is either now or late in the season if you have food. They are still in summer patterns. I would hunt now if I had a stud to pattern. As it is I usually wait for the random big buck traveling the rut. I like to decoy a lot, so that is a factor. Late season is one of my favorites. Last week of December can be outstanding!

Neighbor just texted me and said he has the big 8 out by him. That’s the one I was hoping to kill tonight. Hopefully he makes it

So final update on last night. Saw 17ish. The two big bucks I was hoping to see specifically the big 8 was in my neighbor's clover all night. IN fact he asked me to drive the wheeler over and get him out of the stand which I did. My beans are going yellow quick here with the cold and maybe frost. Not sure how the hunting will be this weekend. The biggest one I saw was a decent 10 point that has real potential. I kinda want to shoot him but would be more happy if the wife or kids shot him. I want the big 8. I'm just not sure that is going to be feasible now with the conditions of my bean leaves.

Are you going to spread wheat or rye seed on your beans right before they yellow and drop leaves? I have good luck getting a stand of green winter cereals doing this. Might be enough to get Big 8 to keep coming back...

Green to green plan. Soybeans to cereal grain.
