I filled my buck tag and won’t be muzzle hunting this year. I could go out with the bow and try to fill a doe tag, but not real anxious to do that.
How about the rest of you?
I have enjoyed 4-5 days of habitat work and am also looking forward to Thanksgiving.
My thoughts have shifted away from hunting and to habitat work and ice fishing. Most habitat work will end with an increasing snow pack.

Still loving every minute of it. Mind has wandered to habitat work, home projects, fishing, and duck hunting quite a bit though.

I look forward to habitat work more each year. I'm happy to have filled a tag and to get back into the woods and to work. I hate muzzle season as I don't want to push deer to the neighbors. Every year I tell myself that I should start ice fishing again

I'm a loner when it comes to time in the woods. I enjoy company when they come, but I also don't hate my time alone. I haven't taken a nap at the cabin since April. That seems like a fail to me. I'd still like to put up some venison this year, but I'm also staring at perhaps the best post-season habitat weather I've seen in years. No snow, I've got the time, I've got the equipment. I could get 2-3 years worth of post season work done in 1 if I get after it.

Many men obtain this as they age. My father is the king of ornery, I politely call it the Flamethrower affect, melts anybodies defenses and literally repels anybody. :-)

Every year I tell myself that I should start ice fishing again I have a lake not too far from you that I want to try again. Just let me know and maybe we can drag Bob along.

Never happy when bow season finishes up. I don’t late season bow hunt. Don’t really give a crap about gun season. Usually glad to just get that over with because I don’t see shit with the gun.

I’m glad I live in a state that gives me all of this week to still get it done with a bow.
A week from today is gun. Two weeks after the closing of gun is a 2 day gun. Muzzy the first few days of January.
Bow hunting until the first Saturday of February if one is inclined to go. I’ll be shifting more towards ducks and bunnies by then.
So many options and I can still work on habitat for 3 months before turkey.

I'm starting to see that clearly too. Once gun season hits, the pattern I had gets more and more nocturnal. I'm glad steve got to see deer as long as he did. I kept that camera going in my yard all the way through, and I'm seeing more deer now than at any point, but they're all at night, including more small bucks.

I imagine spring arrives there at least 6 weeks earlier than here as well.

I am happy to have tagged a nice buck and also shot a doe for the freezer. Have to admit I am not very anxious to get in the stand in MN this year. Maybe late season for a doe if the weather is not too cold.

Not sure what it is exactly. Maybe because they’re not big parcels? Or we hunt them hard during the rut? They’re both places the does like. Neither one holds bucks during the non-rut times. Seems like people we know that have consistent success with the rifle have good sized chunks of land.

Maybe late season for a doe if the weather is not too cold. With your Iowa farm I would bet Minnesota does not look so inviting. Average buck quality is so much better on your Iowa place. Any Pheasants on your Iowa Farm?

On my 40, there is usually only 1 guy hunting, and that is only if the winds are right to get back there. We stay on the edge, get in quietly, and exit quietly. Nobody got busted this season until my nephew left the ground blind early. Night time population increase makes me think they've gotten the boot from elsewhere and are seeking refuge but now night walking because of it.

My best stand saturday night was the outhouse. Had I been in there after dark with a pocket knife, I could've gotten one.
