Do u have a tractor wudz? Yes. A kubota 4800 with a bucket. It struggles too much getting the root ball out. The shingle oak trees have a strong root system 😬 Will you disc, plow, till, throw and mow? Sounds like you could cut and spray if you disc or throw and mow.

This is what we do also. I made a V shaped tip for it so it doesn't slip off the stump.

I would save the labor of sawing and double dip. Leave the trees at full length. Then get a small dozer in there. Push the trees and roots in wind rows where you want to create screens. Or pile up and burn.

We don't have any large rock so I can't say. With ruts and stumps I either spin the wheels or pop the front tires off the ground. Our tractors are only 24 and 33 HP and never going more then about 1/2 MPH.

When I broke our land, we had one area that was a real tangle of roots and shrubs near a swamp. I used the single shank ripper (sub-soiler) and made multiple passes through that area to rip out all the roots and small stumps. Had my 30 HP gear drive tractor then (JD 790) and that little tractor would just spin the tires at times.....but mostly just kept chugging thru the root balls. Was a very messy clean up doing this.....but today it is one of my best food plots.
Later I used that same ripper to install 400 feet of 1" plastic water line. That worked like a charm. Ran the plastic pipe over my roll bar and down near the three point into a curved tube behind the ripper. buried the pipe at about 2 feet deep and made clean outs after each 100 foot coil of water line. That was 10 years ago....and I did this for my daughter. Still working like a charm.
