The deer have been hitting the white birch tops I dropped earlier this winter. They’d cleaned up the brown ash tops is dropped. Surprisingly they haven’t been hitting the maple tops as much yet. That deer had bedded there a few weeks ago. Judging by that little bit of snow, they don't look like they're too hard up for food. It’s actually probably 6” deeper than it shows. That area they’re standing in was packed down by them previously. Probably 10-12” in most places but, not bad. Mostly powder now.

Well I’m a little concerned when I saw this cribbing this morning. It’s on striped maples. It was done last night. Looks like maybe a doe and fawn. We haven’t had a tough winter so far. I wonder if they are just testing for sap or are starving? I know moose will do this in the fall and winter but, thought that deer did it as a last resort? You can see the cribbing at different heights so I think there’s a doe and fawn here.

I will definitely drop some next weekend. Depending on the weather I may get back to camp mid week.
