I am all for it. Lots of angling pressure, way more permanent fish houses now. Six walleye is too many, seems odd that it was ever that high. Most of the big lakes are 4 now anyway. Your thoughts?

100% for all of the same reasons.

I'm all for it and I wish they would close the season on the Mississippi river during the walleye spawn.

I dont do a lot of public water fishing but I know a lot about fish management (and I stayed at a holiday Inn express). I know slots are a pain in the ass but they do work when coupled with reduced harvest. I agree reduce the limits AND put a state wide slot in place.

It's time for a declaration of fishing independence.

Never understood 6 walleye 3 pike. Should be reversed I’ve thought that for years. Three walleye is plenty and most lakes have over abundance of pike.

Dropping from 6 to 4 maybe not have a huge impact but I can tell you it will save fish. I talked to several guys this fall and some in the winter getting limit of 6... one group had 6 guys 36 fish. That would have saved 12 fish for another day.

Not sure on acreage. I don’t compliment our dec often as they do a piss poor job with the deer but they do a great job with this lake. There have been times when the limit was 5 12” fish and times when it was 3 18” fish. Now the limit is 3 15” fish. It is also full of 12” perch that they went from no limit to 50 back in the 80’s. Old timers still talk about filling buckets with perch when there were no limits. Fish limits definitely help, especially on days when they are jumping in the boat or onto the ice.

The 4 walleye limit came up again. I hope they drop it to 4. Sounds like a good chance this year.

Pro tip: eating just the cheeks and releasing the fish helps preserve a sustainable fishery?

The DNR made reference to the limit reduction as more of a social issue? They claim it is rare to catch your 6 person limit. If that is the case, then why have a 6 fish limit if no once catches 6?
It is BS, because on my lake guys catch 6 quite often during a fall bite, even trolling lead core. When the bite it on, guys will catch 20 walleye a day and keep 6. I have seen it for many years.

I think its more just a decision to be made due to increasing population(more pressure) and technology advancements.
At some point, the majority of these bodies of water just cant sustain at some point.
