Do you want/need to make your own wood chips, or are you looking for the most effective way to get a bunch? You may be able to get many many dump truck loads for what you'd pay for that chipper, quite possibly more than the chipper could make before it's shot.

I had a couple different ones with my landscaping business and unless you have a constant need for one they are not worth the trouble. It will take you all day to make a pile of any size. The cat is right on this one, just have them dumped when you need them.

I have a DR model that takes up to 3” wood. It works fine and can go through quite a bit of brush. I can make a couple wheelbarrow loads in an hour or so. It works great if you have a person chipping and another dragging brush. I like it because I can take it to where I’m working and chip there. If you’re just looking for chips though find a local tree company. They’ll dump them for you if they’re in the area because it’s usually cheaper than paying a worker to drive back to the shop and dump. The chips will rot down in 1-2 years and make great mulch. Read up on ramial. Unfortunately with my kidney issues last year I didn’t get to chip at all. Hopefully back at it this year. I have this one which I load in my truck. It rolls like using a 2-wheeler dolly. I paid $600 a few years ago. They have sales throughout the year where these may be $50-100 less. www.drpower.com/Power-Equipment/Chippers/Chipper-Shredders-/DR-Chipper-Shredder/p/CS23030BMN0

I would think a tree trimming service would be your best bet, like other say get by the truck load.

^ I would like a unit when I retire for working on ramial but if I need a bunch for trails I would look for a commercial outfit to provide it.

A lot of times the local power company will dump chips off for free.
